Todd Siff delivers a gentle anthem of Hope with “Keep Dreaming” - Interview

We Write About Music- Austin Sher

Monterey’s own Todd Siff has crafted the kind of single that feels like a much-needed exhale in a world that rarely slows down. “Keep Dreaming”, the title track from his upcoming album due this July, is a beautifully sincere, effortlessly melodic reminder to hold onto hope — and it might be one of the most quietly affecting songs you’ll hear this summer. With his warm, easygoing vocals and a sound that gracefully bridges folk, pop, and mellow rock, Siff proves once again that you don’t need to shout to be heard.

Produced by Matt Johns, the single is a masterclass in restraint and atmosphere. The arrangement is deceptively simple: acoustic guitar carries the weight of the verses, a gentle percussion pulse keeps things moving forward, and tasteful swells of ambient keys and subtle electric lines give the song an ethereal glow. It’s clear Siff and Johns weren’t chasing trends here — this is timeless, classic songwriting with just enough modern polish to feel fresh.

Lyrically, “Keep Dreaming” does exactly what its title promises. Inspired by Siff’s own reflections on resilience, setbacks, and the ever-complicated human experience of chasing something better, it’s a track that feels both personal and universally understood. There’s no forced sentimentality here; instead, Siff writes in a plainspoken, heartfelt way that makes you feel like he’s talking to you across a campfire or a porch swing at sunset. It’s optimistic without being naive, and that’s no small feat.

We recently sat down with Todd for a wide-ranging conversation (above) about his process and the making of the upcoming album, and it’s clear that “Keep Dreaming” is the heartbeat of this new chapter for him. He spoke about pulling influences from Coldplay’s wide-eyed sincerity, Damien Rice’s raw emotionality, and Kacey Musgraves’ reflective lyricism, crafting a record designed to feel like a conversation between friends. The title track, he shared, came from a particularly tough season, and writing it felt like a letter to his future self — one that anyone listening can easily adopt as their own.

“Keep Dreaming” isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel — and that’s precisely why it works so well. It’s a reminder of the power of earnest, thoughtfully constructed songwriting in an era of overproduced gloss. It meets you where you are, lifts you up a little, and leaves you better than it found you.

With this single, Todd Siff makes it clear he’s not just a songwriter worth listening to — he’s one worth believing in. If the rest of his forthcoming album carries the same heart and craftsmanship as “Keep Dreaming”, we’re in for something genuinely special this summer.

We’re so excited for the upcoming record, but in the meantime, we urge everyone out there to give our conversation a listen, to check out the song, and of course to stay tuned for more by following along!

Song Review- "Keep Dreaming"

By Matt Watts- Indie Talk

Todd Siff’s new single, “Keep Dreaming,” is a timely beam of optimism framed in six-and-a-half minutes of artful indie-pop craftsmanship. Produced by Matt Johns, the track demonstrates how tasteful arrangement and honest songwriting can turn a simple mantra into a life-affirming experience.

The song opens with a hush of airy synth pads that feel like a gust of coastal air rolling over Monterey Bay. A cascading piano motif soon takes the lead, joined by brushed percussion that settles into a gentle, sun-drenched groove. Johns’ production is brilliantly layered: organic textures—a crisp acoustic guitar and hand-clap–ready snare work—sit comfortably beside soft synthetic horns that punch up each chorus without ever overwhelming the mix. Midway through, a saxophone steps forward with a soulful, melodic solo that carries the track to its final fade. The instrument’s warm, reedy timbre underscores the song’s central message: hope is a living, breathing force that can rise from even the darkest moment of your life.

Siff’s voice is purpose-built for this kind of material. His tone is open and inviting, steeped in the earnestness of classic singer-songwriters yet polished enough for modern playlists. He avoids vocal theatrics, opting instead for subtle dynamic shifts—every lift of a phrase feels earned, every dynamic a natural extension of emotion. The harmonies from Erika Barrington widen the chorus like sunlight broaching cloud cover, offering a communal feel that invites listeners to sing along.

What elevates “Keep Dreaming” is its lyrical duality: verses that acknowledge darkness and choruses that insist on light. Siff writes with disarming candor:

“Feels like I’m on a cliff, jumping scared with nothing to lose / Feels like I’m living a life that I did not choose.”

At the chorus, he pivots to a collective call-to-arms— “You gotta keep dreaming, you gotta believe in you.” The hook is contagious, hopeful, and unashamedly encouraging, making the track feel like precisely the anthem our times demand. A brief bridge—“And the world, it will hurt you… and then it won’t”—adds a note of realism before returning to the mantra, reinforcing the idea that resilience is a choice.

At 6:32, the song earns its extended runtime by letting each instrumental voice speak. The electric-guitar break, rhythmic rather than virtuosic, complements the gentle sway established by the percussion. The drums are a study in tasteful restraint: subtle fills transition sections smoothly, maintaining momentum without ever crowding the pocket.

Fans of Coldplay’s atmospheric uplift, Damien Rice’s confessional storytelling, or Kacey Musgraves’ melodic warmth will find familiar comfort here, yet Siff never feels derivative. “Keep Dreaming” serves as a fitting title track for his forthcoming album, promising a collection rooted in hope and human connection.

"Fall Down" Song Review

Leading the charge with his vocals on his newest single “Fall Down”, Todd Siff has left it all out on the table for listeners everywhere to take in. We are loving this track! Read on for a closer look at the music, in addition to a background on the artist.

As a musician, theatre artist, and educator, Todd Siff has rooted his life in what he clearly loves most, music. Working as a solo artist and part of a band called Freerunner, he’s served up something extra special for us on a new song called “Fall Down”. While it’s certainly inspiring through its deep themes and lyricism, you can’t help but instantly be swept up off your feet by the artist’s vocals and power that he holds. Without a doubt, this is both a song and a musician that we highly recommend you check out as soon as possible.

Recorded at Starlight Sound in Lake City, Florida with the help of producer Matt Johns, who also added a very necessary electric guitar to the mix, “Fall Down” embodies the feeling of optimism. While trying to connect the dots on any artist’s lyrics can be difficult and borderline impossible depending on the themes, we’ve come out of our multiple listens of this song with a positive outlook. Through strong messaging, Todd has proved he’s not only got a powerhouse set of pipes, but is far above average in the department of storytelling and songwriting.

So much of what we enjoyed about this song besides its lyrics had to have been the way that it all gradually explodes and builds up through instrumentation. It’s almost as if he’s holding your hand until the end, but lets go so you can kick back and enjoy the solos and breakdowns. Seriously though, as far as song composition goes, you’re riding the wave of emotion as new instruments get introduced and the stakes continue to rise as the song goes on. However, the constant of it all really does fall back on Todd’s vocals and undoubtedly has to have been our favorite piece of the puzzle.

With all that being said though, this is acting as another vibrant piece added to his growing discography. Please go ahead and check out those links below to listen, follow along, and stay tuned for much more on the way!
